So I was doing these colored pencil pieces with water colored backgrounds and they were looking al cool and stuff and then i messed up the background on this one so bad that it couldn’t' be fixed. Then I tried cropping it and that didn’t work either, so now even though the focus looks good, the rest looks like crap and this is the closest the poor thing will ever get to finished because of how bad the top is. This is a cropped excerpt of the image.

Inspired by "Thumbellina" The Cartoon movie If I am not mistaken? Anyways, I love this piece. Congrats on MOD's choice.

:-) Joshua R. Pinkas replies: "Nope, never heard of "Thumbellina", is there a bee stead in it?"

Wonderful work on the bee, the rider could use some anatomical corrections. I know people are quiet difficult to draw, but try using photo reference first. There is one good web site, called corbis.com there you can find tons of photos of all kinds. Just type in search horse_rider for example, and you'll find lots of pics. Chose the one that suites better for your idea then looking at a it draw the rider and just put a bee instead of a horse. That can help a lot. I myself used such technique. Keep it up!

fantastic work on the bee. The wings look a little too opaque, but otherwise wonderfully drawn.

Replying to the artists question, actually the Faerie Prince in the Movie rode a bubmlebee EXCATELY like that. It's a shame you never saw the movie, It's a good one.

Yes, it's acctually a bee, not a bumble-bee. It's to many stripes and to long and curved sting.

I've a small recuest. Try to do a bumble-bee rider, like a "stenhumla"(Swedish) it has black body with a red bottom. You can also try "jordhumla"(Swedish) a blackbody again with one thick yellow stripe around its "chest" and another around its "hips" (don't know what you should call them on a bee/bumble-bee.
If you know the names on this spicies of bumble-bees can you tell them to me then.

:-) Joshua R. Pinkas replies: "Unfortunatly i dont' know the name of it. It was based off a photo i took out in yard. well bassed off of two pictures actually, one was a large generic bee, the other was a wasp. the head is the wasp, the rest was the bee"
