SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Moorish Assassin

Set in Islamic Spain, she was trained in the arts of Ninjitsu as a child, and was raised as a covert killer. She hides in the thick of night, from which she silently emerges. She is a member of the mercenary guild known as the Crimson Tear. Most members bare the insignia of a red eye with two drops of blood for tears as a tattoo upon their body. More elite members elect to show it with more style, using it in ornamentation on various weapons and armour. Who will be her next hit, a prince perhaps, or maybe it is a laborer who knows too much. Either way, they won't feel a thing.

I'm not to thrilled with the buildings in the background as they looks a bit pasted and unfinished, but the figure is really sharp and the moon is lovely. It would just be nice to see everything in between brought up to the same quality.

24 Dec 2004	Anonymous	Loading... Orry for the historically accurate thing, but how did a Moor learn Jijitsu (or however you spell it)? And the Moors in Granada in the middle ages did not have Roman style roofs like that. Joshua R. Pinkas replies: "First, it is Ninjitsu, not jujitsu, or as you said jujitsu, these are differing styles and forms and are not interchangeable. Second she would have learned the same way back then that an Italian man in New Jersey would learn today, from someone who knows and lives in the area. And as a point of clarification, the story is set in Islamic Spain, not necessarily this picture. "
